I’m new to the world of the Owl 
I’ve got an Owl coming in one of the next days but I can’t find any “Quick guide” (if there ever was one but I don’t suppose it’s all guess work) or anything else for that matter. Not even a list of the patches installed. Could anyone provide me with either or point me in the right direction for just getting into using it?

Getting started doc does have list of preinstalled patches. And you can have a look at patches repo
I suppose you’ve noticeddocumentation page here as well.
Beside that, there are some guides about using PureData and Faust, for C++ you’ll probably have to browse API docs.
