What is noise level on output of pedal when the input is shortened to ground and effects are switched off (I mean the signal goes from input to output without processing)?
We’ve measured SNR quite close to the codec rating, which is 90dB for the ADC and 100dB for the DAC. Realistically I think you should be able to get 87dB SNR for an end-to-end test as you describe it. Results will vary depending on the power supply: a decent 9v PSU will generally give better results than powering over USB, and less chance of nasty ground loops.
