Hi Owlers

I got my Owl a couple of weeks ago and now I have had the opportunity to try it out. It doesn’t work as I expected so I am asking for some help with troubleshooting.

I plugged it in via USB to my Mac OS X 10.9.2 computer with the version of OwlNest that I downloaded today. If I do “Get Info” on the OwlNest application it says: 1.0.0.

“I can load from OWL” and see what is loaded on it. If I push the switch the LED in OwlNext responds, so the Owl is clearly connected. Then I tried to plug it in to my bass and amplifier. I connected it to a 9 v power supply (which works well with other pedals) and tried to get some effects out of the Owl.

When the preloaded effects I just got a faint crackle when in effects mode, and with bypass I the crackle was bypassed. I tried a few different effects, but only slightly different variants of the faint crackle och a hiss. I then loaded the latest firmware from the website and tried again. Nothing changed, no effects.

Also, how does one switch between the different two effects? Even with two effects loaded when pressing the button it only switches between on (indicated by red or green light) to off. I had expected it to cycle through: red, green, off.

So, maybe I have missed something obvious?
Otherwise, what should I try next?

Hi,
Did you try to plug in your bass on the left entry of the owl ? If not, you’ll just hear the dry sound of your bass.
Otherwise, if you want to load other effect refer to owlnest software and choose green slot and use the scale to choose the effect you want. I’ve the sound was very dirty and crackling even with input sensitivity on low or high. I’m very desappointed about this thing !!!

to clarify the buttons:

  • the pushbutton enables selecting the red or green patch
  • the footswitch switches between true bypass and selected patch.
