After receiving my shiny new Owl in the Post I went to plug it in and try it with OwlNest, and couldn’t find it. I looked in Device Manager and got this:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
I’m running Windows 8.1, I don’t have access to any Apple computers, happy to provide more information on request.
Is this a known issue? Dud Owl? PEBCAK?
Hi Neil,
we’ve seen reports of issues with Windows, and are currently troubleshooting the USB device drivers on the firmware side. It works fine most of the time, but in some situations it seems that Windows decides to use the wrong driver.
The workaround at the moment is to remove the driver for the device, and then manually load a class-compliant MIDI driver.
The Korg MIDI driver for Windows reportedly works well, you can find it here:
I’m not a Windows expert by any description so I won’t try to explain how to uninstall whatever driver Windows decided was right, but post back here if you have problems. We’ll try to rustle up proper instructions asap.

Thanks Martin, Using the KORG Driver got it working, now if I could just find a working download link for stsw-stm32068.zip!
Yes it seems to have disappeared from the ST website, again!
The STM32F4 Discovery page now has a Download link, but it doesn’t seem to work:

I can’t vouch for it, but the contents look legit to me. I really wish that ST could sort out their website though!
